I never had a real doll house, but my Barbie had a luxurious, fabric-draped shoe box bed and a glorious mink sofa borrowed from the collar of my mom’s wool coat. That’s my earliest memory of creating a beautiful living space—and I did it by using what I had on hand to work with: some scraps of fabric, a shoe box, and a slightly worn fur collar. These principles continue to drive my design ethic: work creatively with what you’ve got.
For 30 years, I’ve been reimagining spaces for clients who get stuck and overwhelmed. Many people have lovingly collected an array of furniture, art, and accessories that have memories and meaning associated with them. They just need a little guidance putting them together in an artful, cohesive, and functional way. Often, a refreshed look requires a new paint color, some updated lighting, or reupholstering a piece or two. Whatever it is, I’m here to help. I believe that a home should reflect the people who live there and not the latest design trend.
In addition to being a designer, I’m the proud mother of three interesting and funny young men and the lucky wife of a man far kinder and more patient than I deserve. Favorite activities include digging for treasure at local flea market/thrift store haunts, family road trips, far-flung adventures of any kind, sunset gazing, lounging with a good cup of coffee, and laughing with people I love.
